Peace is a Verb

I was reading in 1 Peter last night and came across a passage I’ve read many times, but it struck me in a very different way.  This is what it reads:

Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.  For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.  – 1 Peter 3: 10-12

I read these verses over and over again.  I must have read this passage at least ten times.  It wasn’t until after reading it several times that it hit me. Peace. We must pursue peace.  As children of the Lord we aren’t called to avoid uncomfortable situations; we are asked to find ways to create and maintain peace in a God-like way.  We are asked to do good.

Peace is a noun.  Peace is a verb – an action verb.img_3679

Peace out,
